VOLUNTEERS AGES 18+ ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
It takes over 200 people to successfully run the Goodfellows program each year. If you would like to be a part of the Goodfellows effort, just add your name and email address our Volunteers Email List at the bottom of this page. We'll keep you posted on upcoming activities and volunteer opportunities. Children under the age of 18 who would like to be involved with the Goodfellows should contact the Junior Optimist Club at their school. For more information about Junior Optimist programs, visit www.f2hoptimists.org.
- Elves are people who help in the warehouse between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We sort food, toys and books, check expiration dates, and handcraft individual gift and food boxes for each child, family or senior receiving assistance. Must be 18 or older, and should be available to work Monday-Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm starting on the Monday after Thanksgiving, for 3 consecutive weeks.
- Reindeer are people who help out on delivery day, the last Saturday morning before Christmas. We meet at the warehouse at 9:00 am, and load cars and make deliveries to hundreds of children, families and seniors in Farmington and Farmington Hills. We usually finish around 11:00. We need over 200 drivers on Delivery Day.
- Goodfellows work from September through January to make this program a success. Some Goodfellows also volunteer at the Neighborhood House Food Pantry throughout the year. If you would like to volunteer your time, and give back to the community, we've got an opening for you! We are currently seeking people with experience in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word Mail/Merge, Constant Contact, Quickbooks and Fundraising. If this sounds like you, please contact Richard Lerner.
- Mrs. Claus Staff are high school students or better with neat handwriting to help write thank you notes to donors on the morning of Delivery Day, from 9:00 am until finished (before noon) in the offices at the Goodfellows warehouse. Students can earn up to 3 community service hours toward their NHS requirements or high school graduation community service cord for their time and effort!
You can also email us or call (248) 986-1111 and offer your help TODAY! The warehouse is at a different location every year, but always opens on the Monday after Thanksgiving and closes the Saturday before Christmas (if Christmas falls on a weekend, we close the Saturday of the prior weekend). Hours are 10am-2pm, Toys for Tots staff are in the building until 8:00pm most days and will accept donations for both organizations.
Donations are always welcome. The Goodfellows is a 501c3 public charity, and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by IRS code. Online donations are accepted through Paypal using the link at the top of this page. Checks payable to the Farmington Area Goodfellows should be sent to:
