The Goodfellows Holiday Season

Our mission is: "No Child or Senior without a Christmas".

             Paypal: www.paypal.me/farmgoodfellows        Venmo: @FarmingtonGoodfellows

warehouse 2016The application deadline for the 2023 holiday season was November 17. If you missed the application deadline, but still need assistance, one of these local agencies may be able to help. Applications for Holiday Assistance from the Goodfellows can be found here in September each year.

In an average holiday season, we support 400-500 children, families, seniors and developmentally challenged adults within the cities of Farmington and Farmington Hills who live below the Federal poverty guidelines. We expect the need to be significant this year given the current economic environment. Our all-volunteer efforts rely on the kindness and generosity of local residents and businesses to serve the most needy in our community during these challenging times. Even though we have over 200 volunteers supporting our program, no one ever gets a paycheck at the Goodfellows, and every dollar donated goes directly into the program. We are always in need of canned or boxed non-perishable foods (expiration date 2025 or beyond), diapers, new books and new, unwrapped toys.

Cash donations are greatly appreciated and critical to our mission. They are used to purchase grocery store and department store gift cards which can be used by our families and seniors to purchase perishable foods, clothing or other necessities. We are a 501c3 public charity, and donations are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by IRS code. Donate online via Paypal or Venmo, or mail a check to:

Our warehouse location changes each year based on the availability of a vacant building (we need 25,000 sq.ft.), and the incredibly kind generosity of community business leaders who donate warehouse space for free. Each year we open on the Monday after Thanksgiving, and move out on the weekend after Christmas. We share the warehouse with Oakland County Toys for Tots which serves thousands of children in over 60 communities.

Goodfellows warehouse hours are 10:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday for 3 weeks beginning on the Monday after Thanksgiving. The Toys for Tots staff are there throughout the afternoon and evening hours. We share many of our staff members, and both organizations will accept donations on behalf of either charity.

Our warehouse location for 2023 is 37849 Interchange Drive in Farmington Hills, on the west side of Halsted Road between Grand River Avenue and 11 Mile Road/

It takes more than 200 volunteers to make our Delivery Day a success. If you would like to help us bring food, diapers, books and toys to families or seniors in need on Saturday, December 16, please join the queue at the warehouse beginning at 9:00am. With help from the Fire Department, and high school football, swim and hockey teams, we load 6 cars at a time and average one car out every 30 seconds to finish by 11:00am. Deliveries to Seniors and Families will be loaded from the same line this year.

FREE MOVIE DAY AT THE FARMINGTON CIVIC THEATER DECEMBER 2: The theater is offering two fun movies for patrons to help support the Goodfellows during downtown Farmington's "Holly Days". Enjoy a free movie with the donation of non-perishable food items, a new, unwrapped toy, or cash contribution. Stop by the theater from 10 am - 12 pm and support this worthy cause that helps your neighbors have a wonderful holiday season. You'll find two choices of family movies, the full-length feature film, The Polar Express (1hr. 40min) at 10:30am, and a short movie, Elf on a Shelf (26 min.), with showtimes 10:15am, 11:00am, and 12:00pm. If you can't stay for the movie, consider delivering your donation and purchase a snack to go from the concession stand (fresh popcorn, pop, candy). 50% of your concessions purchase will also be donated to the Goodfellows.

Giving to the Goodfellows, whether in the form of food, toys, books, diapers, money or your time, is a wonderful way to help support those in need in our community. We hope you'll join us in our efforts to help others this holiday season.
